A big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to MVP Shauna Martinez who has been chosen out of 2,000 dancers in the world to tour with the Diavolo Dance Theatre. Ms. Martinez is accomplished in ballet, modern, jazz, mime, and hip hop. She will be moving to L.A. this weekend to prepare for the Diavolo World-Wide Tour that begins in Holland in August. She the niece of my favorite MVP Phylliss Newman.Shauna's hometown is Derby, Kansas. Her drive to dance started at the young age of three. She soon became a competitive all-around gymnast and later an All American collegiate cheerleader. She spent her summers as a collegiate instructor for the National Cheerleader's Association earning awards as a top instructor.
Shauna received her Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from Wichita State University under the direction of Nick Johnson in 2007. While attending WSU Shauna choreographed a student piece for ACDFA which was adjudicated and chosen to close the evening of the Gala performance. She has performed with dre.dance, Joe Torry, and Sinbad. Shauna is super ecstatic be in her first year with Diavolo Dance Theatre.
