Six Ways to Protect Yourself From Swine Flu

In the past few days there has been increasing worries about the Swine Flu.

The Swine Flu is a respiratory disease normally found in pigs and caused by type A influenza viruses. While outbreaks of this type of flu are most common in pigs, human cases of swine flu do happen.

People with direct exposure to pigs are those most commonly infected with swine flu and just as the common flu is passed along, swine flu can spread by coughing, sneezing, or touching something with the viruses on it.

Here's another note, you cannot catch swine flu from eating pork.
According to the CDC, the swine flu viruses is not transmitted by food. Properly cooking pork to an internal temperature of 160°F kills all bacteria and viruses.

MVP Fitness is taking precautionary measures to protect you from Swine Flu.

There has been a complete and intensive cleaning done at the MVP Fitness Studio and all MVP Boot Camp equipment, including every single resistance band and exercise mat has been painstaking cleaned. Plus, hand sanitizer will be on hand at MVP Boot Camp to ensure a clean environment.

Now, with that being said here are six ways to help build your immune system and to protect yourself from the Swine Flu.

1. Eat more broccoli to ward off those nasty germs. Broccoli helps build your vitamin C and coats cell surfaces and prevents the entry of viruses.

2. Take a multivitamin. Just one multivitamin can reduce your risk of infections, including colds and the flu by 76%.

3. Get proper rest. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep will build your immune system.

4. Take Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. If you read my email last week, a daily dose of ACV will help support a healthy immune system.

5. Start exercising if you don't exercise now. There are so many benefits that result when you exercise. (Of course, MVP Boot Camp and MVP Personal Training sessions are a great way to get in shape)

6. Prayer. I pray that God will protect each and every one of you and your loved ones from any illness, hurt, harm or danger.

Meeting With New York Met Gary Sheffield

I recently had the pleasure to meet with New York Met, Gary Sheffield. "Sheff" is a nine-time All-Star and hit his 500th home run on April 17th to become the 25th player in major league history to reach the milestone.

We discussed my two of my favorite subjects --- God and fitness. I found him to be grounded in God and family (his wife DeLeon Richards Sheffield is a Gospel Artist) and he loves to work out, but a shoulder injury has limited his weight lifting program.

He had a career marred with some controversy and is a lifetime .294 hitter and should be a big help to the Mets this year because across the board, Sheffield is a very good teammate.

This Will Help You Reach Your Weight Loss Goals

Have you ever wondered how you can get better results in your weight loss goals?

Even after you participate in MVP Boot Camp and a use a good meal plan, sometimes you need a bit more.

You need to consider some supplementation.

Now, many trainers like to push products down your throat to get a commission, I am not one of those trainers.

That's why I only use select supplements in my own program.

And there's one I like better than anything out there and you can buy at your local health food store for under $6 and its powerful stuff!

This supplement is Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar.

I suggest 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in 16 ounces of water that you'll sip throughout the day.

Within days you will discover that this supplement will:

--Help control weight
--Promote digestion & ph Balance
--Help remove body sludge toxins
--Help maintain healthy skin
--Help promote youthful, healthy bodies --Soothe irritated skin --Relieve muscle pain from exercise

That is why in addition to an intensive training you need to take Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar.

The only regret I have after taking "Braggs" is that I did not discover it sooner!

4 Ways to Look and Feel Great by Summer

The summer months are almost here! The perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and all of the chores are done.

But one thing you have to be careful of is not backsliding and finding yourself dreading the summer months because of the way you look and feel.

Winter is typically the blame for your inability to stick to your fat loss plans and fitness goals.
However, I do have 4 simple tips that will help you avoid blowing it and enjoy the all the summer fun activities feeling healthier and stress free.

1. Flush it out - Water does the body good when it comes to good health. Water helps flush out toxins and other unwanted things lingering in your body. Water also replenishes fluids that help lubricate the internal body, while keeping you hydrated, lowering your desire to eat, and also helps keep your skin looking smooth and young. You should be drinking your body weight divided by half in ounces of water per day to keep your body hydrated and working properly.

2. Flax Seed - A great way to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system is by adding flaxseed to your healthy meal plan. Taking Flaxseed is a great way to control high blood pressure and helps with digestion; just make sure the flaxseed is crushed for easier consumption and absorption.

3. Eat Less Later - Everyone knows, whether they want to admit it or not, reducing calories will help you lose weight. However, just as you should reduce the calorie intake, you need to know when to eat. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the one meal that you should not miss. Lunch should be healthy but less than you ate for breakfast. As you approach dinner, eat healthy and light. Avoid after dinner snacks and DO NOT Eat at least 3 hours before you go to bed at night.

4. Reduce the Pressure - Stress can be an incredibly powerful drag in your life and when a person is stressed, the body reacts. Results of stress can lead to high blood pressure, tension headaches, upset stomachs, and many other ailments. Exercise is probably the most effective defense against stress in your life. So keep your stress in check with good quality well balanced exercise program.

JJK Visits MVP

Jackie Joyner Kersee, who won a silver medal in the heptathlon in the 1984 Olympics and gold medals in the 1988 and 1992 Games, made a visit to the MVP Fitness Studio on Monday, April 1, 2009.

JJK came to MVP for a quick, light workout and pick up a signed copy of my new book entitled Get Fit 4 Christ.

What a blessing, Jackie Joyner Kersee, who is one of the greatest female athletes of all time has my autograph.
