Here's 10 Ways to Get Thin in 2010

Having a New Year’s resolution of losing weight is a popular goal for many people. Here are 10 ways to shed those unwanted pounds throughout the year.

1. Make it happen – Staying physically fit and losing weight is a lifestyle change. It’s up to you, make the decision to transform you body into a healthy temple and finally do something that is good for YOU.
2. Throw away your scale – Don’t step on the scale for the first six weeks. Once you stick to your resolutions you will be you healthy – you will feel better – and when you look in the mirror you look better and have more confidence in YOU! This is SIMPLY NOT anything a scale can measure.
3. Plan, Plan, Plan – The old saying is true, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail "
4. Support - When you are trying to get more fit, it is very important to have family and friends supporting you along the way.
5. Keep only healthy food- in the house all the times and make sure you eat enough of it.
6. Take a multivitamin - the clear benefit of daily intake of multivitamins is to prevent vitamin/nutrient deficiency. It will also improve your mental and physical condition and well being.
7. Apple Cider Vinegar – Dr. Steven Gibb says “Apple Cider Vinegar is the icing on the cake. Everyone in the world should be drinking this on a daily basis!” There are many benefits to this wonder supplement, such as maintaining healthy skin, controlling weight and removing body sludge toxins.
8. Track your progress - keep track of your training routines to measure weight, rep, and set increases and always make sure that you are constantly reevaluating your fitness plan every 4-6 weeks.
9. Rest - Not getting enough sleep can dramatically affect your current and future health. If you are not getting enough rest, you will begin to notice it in a physical way. While there is no perfect number in terms of hours of sleep, eight hours should be your target each and every night.
10. Enroll in a group exercise class - Group Exercise can take many forms, such as aerobics classes, yoga classes, boxing instruction, spinning classes and boot camp. Group exercise is a great way to have a scheduled, supervised workout. It also adds the element of camaraderie and accountability.

If you're looking for a way to making 2010 your best year ever and if you’re committed to becoming successful in losing weight and looking great, then following these 10 simple steps is the answer.

4 great ways to put on the pounds

My tip this week is to not give up, remember reaching your fitness goal is a gradual process.

But if you DO decide to quit here are some great tips that will allow your body to become more sluggish and will allow you to pack on more pounds GUARANTEED!

1. Eat only process and fast foods - If you're truly serious about packing on some serious fat, you'll follow this rule faithfully. It is also a great way to spend lots of money too.

2. Get to bed as late as you can - This technique is a great way to make you so tired, that you won't feel like exercising.

3. Stay away from water - This tip will allow you to add to the overall toxic load on your system. Remember to use coffee, tea and soda so your metabolism will slow down.

4. Don't exercise at all - You want to watch as much TV as possible and do nothing at all. This is a great way to raise your blood pressure, give you a greater chance of a heart attack and it should allow you to live a more shorter and lazier life.

So that's it!

Follow just one or two of them for even a short time and you'll see a rapid softening of the waistline and a BIG gain in scale.

If you following all of them, you'll be stunned by your appearance in your mirror staring back at you within a month.

Give it a go!

ACE Announces Fitness for 2010

The following represents ACE's listing of the top fitness trends for 2010:

Cost-Conscious Workouts at Fitness Clubs and at Home: The impact of the economy continues to affect the choices of fitness enthusiasts and health clubs alike. Gyms will alter programming and training to better serve the needs of the cost-conscious member, while in- home workouts utilizing small, portable fitness equipment will be popular among individuals watching their budgets.

Group Training: Individuals will scale back on personal training sessions to take advantage of small-group training and group class participation as another way to save on expenses. Health clubs may alter some programs to better suit the needs of larger groups. Likewise, individuals may find that the group setting offers additional motivation and support of their fitness efforts.

Time-Efficient Workouts for the Time-Pressured American: Shorter yet higher- intensity workouts will be more appealing to those with busy schedules because they can reap significant fitness rewards with relatively minimal time investment. Boot-camp style workouts will continue to be one of the most popular of these trends in 2010, offering the ability to burn a sufficiently large number of calories while simultaneously improving muscular fitness. Circuit training will also be a time-efficient workout of choice due to its combined strength and endurance activities.

Exergaming: Exergames will continue to climb in popularity and be taken to the next level: fitness clubs. By integrating fitness-based video games into their programming, clubs will offer unique exercise sessions for game-lovers and those looking for variety within their workouts. Studies conducted by ACE on exergaming-type systems, including Nintendo's Wii Sports and Wii Fit and the PC-based Dancetown, offer insight into the true fitness benefits associated with these alternative fitness options.

Boomer-Specific Programs: Special fitness programming for aging adults will remain a strong trend next year. Growing numbers of boomers recognize the multitude of benefits that come along with regular exercise participation, from lowering blood pressure and cholesterol to maintaining one's functional independence and overall wellbeing.

Functional Training Workouts: Functional training workouts will increase in variety, including popular suspension training tools such as TRX. The portability and time- efficiency of these workouts will appeal to people looking to stay fit at home, the office, the gym or while traveling.

Health and Fitness Awareness: The importance of health and fitness is gaining greater awareness among commercial and governmental organizations. There will be a strong movement towards collaboration between these groups and health and fitness organizations throughout the New Year. These diverse groups will work together in the fight against physical inactivity and obesity.

Importance of Proper Professional Credentials: Health and fitness clubs are recognizing the need for, and the importance of, hiring trainers who hold high-quality, reputable professional credentials. NCCA-accredited fitness certification is fast becoming the recognized stamp of approval for credentialing quality in the fitness industry. ACE is among the few organizations to which the National Commission for Certifying Agencies grants this accreditation for certification programs.

Specialty Exercise Classes: Specialty classes such as ethnic dance, hooping, pole dancing and Zumba will remain popular due in part to the continued success of shows like Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance. Fusion-type classes will be popular among fitness enthusiasts that want to switch up their typical workout programs. Additionally, more gyms will offer unique group exercise programs and mind-body activities.

Fitness Training Tools: Technology is continuing to infiltrate the fitness world. The use of tracking and online training and scheduling tools will increase in the coming year with more people looking to better gauge their progress by accessing and monitoring details of their fitness programs. Some popular examples of tracking gadgets include GoWear fit and Fitbit, while online tools such as TrainingPeaks software offer fitness programs and meal plans that people can access 24-7. Mobile applications are even bringing fitness on-the-go through iPhone applications and other downloadable programming.

Exercise away those winter blues

To varying degrees, many people experience the winter blues. This seasonal mood swing is thought to be related to the lower levels of sunlight present during the colder winter months. In my many years of experience with clients, I have noticed a definite trend in a lack of desire to exercise and an increase in consumption of comfort foods during this season. I liken this phenomenon to a human version of going into hibernation.

Ironically, it is the very thing we want to avoid that will help lift our spirits and make us feel better _ regular exercise. You should participate in outdoor activities, especially on sunny days. For the less physically fit, starting gradually with smaller, enjoyable tasks and to do them faithfully until it becomes a habit.

A five to 10 minute brisk walk is a good start. don't just trudge along, cursing the cold. Walk briskly and with purpose, breathing in the fresh air deeply. Stretch your arms out, squat down then rise up on your toes a few times. Simple. You will be surprised at how energetic you feel afterwards.

Carve out some time each week to focus on physical fitness. Workout at least three times a week, 30 minutes to an hour. Find an exercise DVD, such as Get Fit 4 Christ, you can use at home or hire a Personal Trainer at MVP Fitness. Workout alone if you prefer or in a group by taking a class.

Here's tips to stay in shape duing the Holidays

With all the food and family around, it's easy to fall off the exercise wagon during the Holidays. Here are a few tips to follow.

--Do this for you! Setting personal goals rather than goals based on others' perceptions will help you feel more successful.

--Have a Positive Mental Attitude! Believe you can accomplish what you set out to do!

--Assess Barriers: Know what might get in the way of you achieving your goals.

-- Do something you like - Make sure you are doing something you like to do.

-- Personal trainer: Meet with a good personal trainer for a personalized training program.

-- Always be willing to try something new, it can help you overcome a barrier.

-- Reward yourself along the way to achieving your goals with a new outfit or iPod etc.
More people are sticking to their exercise regimen. YMCA and national statistics indicate 56 percent of people who join fitness centers are still members two months later. That's 18 percent higher than just three years ago. The YMCA says the increasing success is because of increased public awareness of the benefits of regular success.

Eating tips for the Holiday Season

The number one goal for the majority of Americans is to lose weight. But keeping up with your weight loss goals can be tough during the Holiday Season. Eating right and exercise are fundamental; they’re critical for weight loss. Your body has to be set up in order to burn fat and to lose weight in the first place. Here are some nutritional tips to follow during this joyful time of the year:

1. Eat Your Breakfast - I love eating breakfast, because I need to fuel up early in the day. Eating a good solid breakfast to start your day helps supply you with the fuel you need to get started, especially if you are incorporating an early morning fitness program into your day. You need the fuel to get your engine going in the morning. Do not starve your body early, because you may have the tendency to binge-eat later. Your body gets into the craving mode. Feed your body early!!

2. Food From God is Best - We should eat all foods that were created by God and avoid all the foods that are created by man. The things that were provided to us by God and by Mother Nature are the things that we should be eating every day. So, that would mean free-roaming chickens and grass-fed cows that were treated the right way, vegetables that grow out of the ground and fruits that grow on trees. If you thought to yourself, was this provided to me by God and Mother Nature? If the answer is yes, most times it is something that you should eat. And if the answer is no, you should probably stay away from it.

3. Eat Home Cooked Meals - A mother’s cooking is one of the most beautiful things that exist. A mother cooking Sunday dinner for her entire family can’t be beat, because she does that out of love. It’s one of the most wonderful things in the world. Anybody that remembers that is still feeling great inside. And it’s not because her food tasted good, it’s because of the passionate way it was made with love and good intentions for the family.

4. Flush it Out - Water does the body good when it comes to good health. It is absolutely impossible to lose weight without water. Your body flushes the toxins out of your body via water so it will not lose fat. When your body loses weight, it actually metabolizes through the fat and the fat has to leave the system. And the way the fat leaves the system is with water. So, if it has no system to get out, then it would be absolutely impossible to lose weight. Water also lowers your desire to eat, and also helps keep your skin looking smooth and young.

Dont' Give Up!

Rochelle just step off the scale from three weeks of hard work. She had lost three pounds. She could barley hold back her disappointment, because she had been exercising and eating right for the last 21 days. She just can’t believe it. She feels that it doesn’t matter if she tries or not. Even when she exercises really hard, she still doesn’t lose enough weight. What is the use of trying?

I understand it feels very disappointing when things don’t work out the way you had planned in your fitness program; especially when you give it your best effort.

So how do you keep going when there is gradual progress? Will you give up and stop trying or will you stay on track and tell yourself, “I’m doing great, losing three pounds is better than gaining three pounds.”

Here are five simple ways to stay focus when it comes to shedding away those unwanted pounds.

1. Stay Positive and Know Your Outcome - Have specific goals. Get a photo (or several) of what you WILL look like when you reach your goal, and then focus only on that image. Quickly erase any negative beliefs or images that may enter into your mind during your day.

2. Train Your Mind - Listen to audio books while you exercise - Self-improvement and motivation books are GREAT here. You'll feel twice as productive, and highly energized, and the time will fly. As you are working out you are not only focused on feeding your body, but your mind. What a great combination to live by.

3. Begin an Accomplishments Journal - At the end of each day, write down what you've accomplished that day to move you closer toward your fitness and/or life goals. DO NOT WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU HAVEN'T ACCOMPLISHED. What matters is what you ARE doing; we all need a long-overdue, well-deserved pat on the back on a regular basis.

4. Record and Review - If you don't keep track of your workouts and improvements, how will you know if you're making progress? Whether it's fat loss, building muscle tissue, or just feeling better; keeping a log helps and motivates you to get there. When you see where you were, and where you are, you realize you're making progress! My Get Fit 4 Christ Fat Burning program http://www.getfit4chirst.com/ has a 40 day journal and will help you reach your fitness goals!

5. Family and Friends Support - When you are trying to lose weight, it is very important to have family and friends supporting you along the way. This means that they need to respect your weight loss goals and not tempt you into the wrong food choices or try and derail you from your fitness plan. Remind them how important this is to you and you need their support and encouragement.

Always remember to stay in the game. Don’t give up. Don’t quit. Keep working hard. Any dream worth having is worth persevering for! You have it inside of you to achieve goals! Go for it and make it happen!

“When life knocks you down you have two choices- stay down or get up.” – Tom Krause, Author and Coach

Pace Yourself

Pace yourself for Weight Loss - A good meal plan and exercise plan will help you reach your weight loss goals.

One secret to maximize your meal plan is to eat a small meal and wait 20 minutes before deciding if you need more food. This will give your stomach and brain time to communicate. If have eaten enough food, your brain will alert your body and you will find that you don't desire anything more. If you are still hungry after this period, eat a small amount more and wait another 20 minutes.

The Get Fit 4 Christ exercise program and meal plan has been in the testing phase for three weeks now. How has it worked so far? Well, here are a few results from clients that are in the Get Fit 4 Christ 40 Day Beta Testing Program.

Deena Sneed lost three pounds!
Stacey Miller has dropped a total of seven pounds so far!
Sunnie Hughes has melted away five pounds!
Sheree’ Gaston trimmed off three pounds!
Cierra Evans has blasted away three pounds!
Charles Boyd has chopped off four pounds!
Lutricia Adegebite has shaved off seven pounds!

Don't over Indulge

Drinking alcohol is a very touching subject. I try to stay away for alcohol because of damaging side effects. But if you do drink, don't over indulge.

Life is about balance and when you do anything in excess, your body pays the price. So when it comes to drinking alcohol, you need to be wise about your decision making process. Think of the effects of too much alcohol in your current and future fitness and health.

a. Can Damage your liver

b. Shuts your metabolism so you can't burn food energy

c. Impairs your decision making process - especially with healthy food decisions

d. Adds tons of liquid NO quality Calories to your daily diet: Sugar and Fat.

Pastor Winans Steals The Show

A lot of friends of MVP Fitness and Get Fit 4 Christ are getting state, national and world wide attention.

For starters, congratulations goes out to Eric Clark, the husband of MVP, Anjie Clark who will be honored this upcoming Friday by the St. Louis American. Eric will receive the Excellence in Education award.

Congratulations also goes out to Stephen Simmons, the son of MVP Shelia Simmons who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns in Northwestern 27-24 victory of Eastern Michigan.

And finally, congratulations goes out to friend of Get Fit 4 Christ, Pastor Marvin Winans. Pastor Winans had a impressive role in Terry Perry's movie, I Can Do Bad All By Myself. Plugged In Online says:

"Perry doesn't skimp on the service, either. The scene—arguably the most critical, most effective one in the film—features the pastor (played by the Rev. Marvin Winans) preaching on the Luke 15 parable of the lost piece of silver and unleashing a glorious gospel message upon his enthusiastic audience.

'Pastor Marvin Winans' sermon was so powerful and his song was so powerful, I didn't cut it,' Perry said during a roundtable conversation with Christian media outlets, including Plugged In Online. 'I didn't edit it down. I left it as it is. And you feel the anointing when you are watching it.'

If you haven't seen the movie yet I highly recommend it. Perry's movie grossed over $17 million during its first weekend.

Labor Day Fitness Tips

The Labor Day Holiday Weekend is here! You know what that means......FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE!!!

It's a great time of the year, but it is important to stay on track during the weekend. Here are some tips from Personal Trainer Holly Rigsby, creator of Fit Yummy Mummy:

"Are you ready to get back to your fitness plan? Will you wait until AFTER this weekend to start? OR Will you use this weekend to create some forward momentum? If you are a Go Getter Hooray for you!

Here are a couple Labor Day Weekend Fit Tips you can use ANYWHERE! HOW to EAT -

Plan Ahead You know the quote…“No one plans to fail - we simply fail to plan.” The amount of damage you can prevent by simply having an idea ahead of time what you will eat and drink this weekend will save you bunches of extra calories and guilt but also keep you energized to get the most out of your weekend!

Going to a Cookout? ~ Be aware of choices - Grilled Chicken over Hamburger~ Be aware of portion sizes - go for palm sized protein, load up on fruits and veggies, choose spoon sized tastes of the higher calorie sides~ Be aware of MUNCHING - avoid standing over the Chips bowl~ Be aware of calories consumed - avoid high calorie appetizers and multiple servings~ Be aware of hidden calories - condiments count too and consider what you choose to drink. It is very easy to go to a cookout and consume well over 1,000 calories worth of food and drink. Simply being aware gives you the control to at the very least minimize your calorie intake, preventing the addition of unwanted pounds.? Also don't forget to exercise do your

I want to add don't stop working out. If you are short on time try the two exercise DVDs from the link below.

Drum Roll Please!!!!

I have had a very hard time deciding the final volunteers for my Get Fit 4 Christ Fat Loss Beta Test Program.

MUCH harder than I ever thought it would be! I have read hundreds of emails and blog posts and actually reviewed each and every one of them myself.

Along the way it meant cutting out a lot of great people who really deserve a place in the program and I really feel a little sad tonight thinking about all of the great people that did not get chosen.

Anyway, I guess you want to know if you are in or out right.

Well, here it goes!
Those who will be working with me at my MVP Fitness Studio (drum roll please)
Sheree’
Sliver
Stacey (Carli)
Suchadiva
Dedram
Angie Jordan
Cierra
Charles B
Grmashu
Judith T

Yes, that’s 10 people instead of four. I had to extended it because there were so many touching responses.
For my online list the following people have been selected.

Ms. Silky Coils
Rduplessis
Mike Downey
Marcene Hagens
Tammy Jones
Johanna
K McMurray
nicneeb

I chose eight instead of four, because once again the responses really touched my heart.

So look, if you were selected, please email me at lyle@mvpfitness.net with the subject line IN FULL CAPS: I'VE BEEN CHOSEN TO GET FIT 4 CHRIST! (This is important because I receive over 200 emails everyday) and I'll get you more info and tell you what the next step is.

It's going to be a great 40 days but I promise you; I have high expectations of all my participants and won't be letting any of you off the hook if you drop the ball... I'm going back to my baseball playing days mode on this one. I have to or you won't accomplish your Get Fit 4 Christ goals.
If you weren't selected...I apologize.I really do. I encourage you to be patient and don’t give up on me, because within the next 30 days there will be another chance to get involved in the program and the payoff will be even greater.

Get Rid of Those Unwanted Pounds in the Next 40 Days for F.R.E.E.

Here's a way to get rid of those unwanted pounds for FREE!

Here's the deal!

I'm just putting the finishing touches on the new and improve Get Fit 4 Christ fat loss program that I've been working hard behind the scenes to tweek for a while now.

The program is aimed at RAPID fat loss and will involve 40 days of intensive exercise, nutrition and Bible Study where I'll be taking my chosen subjects through step-by-step 'how to' processes that will literally convert them into fat-burning furnaces of the most amazing kind.

If you are interested please continue to read on...

I'm looking for two sets of guinea pigs to go through the program for FREE as my... guests (you won't feel like a guest when you go through it).

One set of four people will be chosen for my online group and a set of four will be chosen to work with myself at the MVP Fitness Studio in St. Louis. The chosen few in each group will be told absolutely everything they need to know to accomplish the quest of losing 10 pounds in 40 Days!

The approach is based upon healthy, spritual practices and, while aspects of the program will be intense, they're not going to ask people do starve themselves (or even count calories) and they won't require two to three hour long marathon training sessions of any kind.
So here's what I'm looking for...
==> I'm looking for people who will devote at least 30 minutes a day to prayer and Bible Study.

==> I'm looking for men and women who are SERIOUS, as in 100% absolutely, definitely, without a doubt committed to losing those unwanted pounds in the next 40 days

==> I'm looking for people who will start the program, follow ALL advice exactly as given FINISH the program to completion rather than doing it 'kinda, sorta, maybe' and then dropping out before it's over.

==> I'm looking for people that are ready, willing and able to blog their daily journey with me (including before, during and after pictures) and who will allow me permission to use their testimonials and pictures in future promotional material related to the Get Fit 4 Christ program.

==> I'm looking for people who are sick and tired of the way they look and feel and are in that 'place' where this is a must for them.
==> I'm looking for people who have access to resistance equipment or a gym, or who are prepared to purchase it by Sunday, August 30th when the program starts.

If you're one of these people then you MAY qualify for one of my four online places. In addition, if you want to work with me at the MVP Fitness Studio then you need to be willing to do the following:

==> Attend AT LEAST three training sessions a week in St. Louis and carry out 'homework' as directed on the other days.

That's it! Pretty simple, right? Or, at least, it's simple if you're a seriously committed person who absolutely, definitely want to achieve this in 40 days. If it all sounds too much for you then you don't really need to read on, the program clearly isn't for you.

"Why's Lyle Doing this?"

Well, I’m testing marketing this program because I'm looking for walking, talking advertisements for the power and effectiveness of this program and I'm willing to forgo payment to get them. The way I figure it is this; people are skeptical. However...At the end of this 40 day program I'm going to have eight people demonstrating the absolute proof of my claims to anyone who'll listen.

And it'll be "for real" too. None of those photo shopped before and after pictures that show miracle transformations. Once my clients see the results for themselves I'll have no problem whatsoever in proving that the program really works. I guarantee it.

So THAT's my reason. It's up front for everyone to see. Nothing hidden. Still Interested? If you're still interested, here's what you need to do...Use the comments section of this blog to tell me why YOU should be given one of these valuable places (They ARE valuable too. My personal training sessions are $40 an hour!).

Go ahead and 'sell' yourself into the program by telling me absolutely anything and everything you think I need to know in order to make up my mind about giving you a place. I will personally choose the eight lucky winners.

I'll be announcing the chosen places at midnight on Monday, August 25th, so there's no time to hang about. If you want in and you're SERIOUS then leave your message in the comments area below.

Darryl Strawberry

If you get a chance pick up my friend's Darryl Strawberry's book entitled Straw: Finding My Way.

Strawberry is a former Major League Baseball player who is well-known both for his play on the field and for his controversial behavior off of it.

In his book he talks about overcoming his battles with alcohol, cocaine, cancer, women and money that he had during his playing career.

He is now a born again Christian and currently lives in St. Louis and attends Church On The Rock.

Strawberry says "Yeah. I gave up the houses, the cars and everything. It was the most remarkable thing. I've always lived a high life, but here it is. God has brought me to a simple life to do his will."

Purchase it the next time you are in a book store , it would make an excellent Father's Day gift for the guy who loves sports.

Congratulations goes out to MVP Pam Mattox who finished in firstplace in her age group in this past weekend's Wentzville Rotary 5Krace.

Pam has been a part of MVP Boot Camp for two years and posted awinning time of 33:15.

She says "I was pleased with my time, because of the hills. Whenthey were announcing the winner for my age range, they called outmy name! My friends and I screamed and laughed at the same time! Thanks Lyle for encouraging me and making me run strong!"
Not bad for a person who could barely run one lap around the trackjust two years ago.

Meeting with Pastor Jamal Bryant

Bishop Alonzo Johnson and First Lady, Erika Johnson of the Tribe of Judah Christian Church held their 2nd Annual Revival Conference on Thursday and Friday, April 23rd and 24th.

Friday's speaker was Pastor Jamal-Harrison Bryant from Empowerment Temple, Baltimore, MD.

Over 800 people heard Bryant's vibrant message on worship.

Hydroxycut

I feel obligated as a fitness professional to pass on this information to you.

You have most likely seen the latest warnings about the weight-loss supplement Hydroxycut.

The FDA is warning dieters and bodybuilders to stop using Hydroxycut because the supplement is "linked to cases of serious liver damage and at least one death."

The FDA says that the maker of this supplement has agreed to recall 14 of its products.

A lot of people have been scammed to purchase quick fix diet supplements like this one. Remember there is no such thing as a quick fix. Losing weight takes a combination of eating the right foods and exercise.

Six Ways to Protect Yourself From Swine Flu

In the past few days there has been increasing worries about the Swine Flu.

The Swine Flu is a respiratory disease normally found in pigs and caused by type A influenza viruses. While outbreaks of this type of flu are most common in pigs, human cases of swine flu do happen.

People with direct exposure to pigs are those most commonly infected with swine flu and just as the common flu is passed along, swine flu can spread by coughing, sneezing, or touching something with the viruses on it.

Here's another note, you cannot catch swine flu from eating pork.
According to the CDC, the swine flu viruses is not transmitted by food. Properly cooking pork to an internal temperature of 160°F kills all bacteria and viruses.

MVP Fitness is taking precautionary measures to protect you from Swine Flu.

There has been a complete and intensive cleaning done at the MVP Fitness Studio and all MVP Boot Camp equipment, including every single resistance band and exercise mat has been painstaking cleaned. Plus, hand sanitizer will be on hand at MVP Boot Camp to ensure a clean environment.

Now, with that being said here are six ways to help build your immune system and to protect yourself from the Swine Flu.

1. Eat more broccoli to ward off those nasty germs. Broccoli helps build your vitamin C and coats cell surfaces and prevents the entry of viruses.

2. Take a multivitamin. Just one multivitamin can reduce your risk of infections, including colds and the flu by 76%.

3. Get proper rest. Getting 7-8 hours of sleep will build your immune system.

4. Take Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. If you read my email last week, a daily dose of ACV will help support a healthy immune system.

5. Start exercising if you don't exercise now. There are so many benefits that result when you exercise. (Of course, MVP Boot Camp and MVP Personal Training sessions are a great way to get in shape)

6. Prayer. I pray that God will protect each and every one of you and your loved ones from any illness, hurt, harm or danger.

Meeting With New York Met Gary Sheffield

I recently had the pleasure to meet with New York Met, Gary Sheffield. "Sheff" is a nine-time All-Star and hit his 500th home run on April 17th to become the 25th player in major league history to reach the milestone.

We discussed my two of my favorite subjects --- God and fitness. I found him to be grounded in God and family (his wife DeLeon Richards Sheffield is a Gospel Artist) and he loves to work out, but a shoulder injury has limited his weight lifting program.

He had a career marred with some controversy and is a lifetime .294 hitter and should be a big help to the Mets this year because across the board, Sheffield is a very good teammate.

This Will Help You Reach Your Weight Loss Goals

Have you ever wondered how you can get better results in your weight loss goals?

Even after you participate in MVP Boot Camp and a use a good meal plan, sometimes you need a bit more.

You need to consider some supplementation.

Now, many trainers like to push products down your throat to get a commission, I am not one of those trainers.

That's why I only use select supplements in my own program.

And there's one I like better than anything out there and you can buy at your local health food store for under $6 and its powerful stuff!

This supplement is Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar.

I suggest 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in 16 ounces of water that you'll sip throughout the day.

Within days you will discover that this supplement will:

--Help control weight
--Promote digestion & ph Balance
--Help remove body sludge toxins
--Help maintain healthy skin
--Help promote youthful, healthy bodies --Soothe irritated skin --Relieve muscle pain from exercise

That is why in addition to an intensive training you need to take Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar.

The only regret I have after taking "Braggs" is that I did not discover it sooner!

4 Ways to Look and Feel Great by Summer

The summer months are almost here! The perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and all of the chores are done.

But one thing you have to be careful of is not backsliding and finding yourself dreading the summer months because of the way you look and feel.

Winter is typically the blame for your inability to stick to your fat loss plans and fitness goals.
However, I do have 4 simple tips that will help you avoid blowing it and enjoy the all the summer fun activities feeling healthier and stress free.

1. Flush it out - Water does the body good when it comes to good health. Water helps flush out toxins and other unwanted things lingering in your body. Water also replenishes fluids that help lubricate the internal body, while keeping you hydrated, lowering your desire to eat, and also helps keep your skin looking smooth and young. You should be drinking your body weight divided by half in ounces of water per day to keep your body hydrated and working properly.

2. Flax Seed - A great way to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system is by adding flaxseed to your healthy meal plan. Taking Flaxseed is a great way to control high blood pressure and helps with digestion; just make sure the flaxseed is crushed for easier consumption and absorption.

3. Eat Less Later - Everyone knows, whether they want to admit it or not, reducing calories will help you lose weight. However, just as you should reduce the calorie intake, you need to know when to eat. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the one meal that you should not miss. Lunch should be healthy but less than you ate for breakfast. As you approach dinner, eat healthy and light. Avoid after dinner snacks and DO NOT Eat at least 3 hours before you go to bed at night.

4. Reduce the Pressure - Stress can be an incredibly powerful drag in your life and when a person is stressed, the body reacts. Results of stress can lead to high blood pressure, tension headaches, upset stomachs, and many other ailments. Exercise is probably the most effective defense against stress in your life. So keep your stress in check with good quality well balanced exercise program.

I Promise That I Will Never Cuss at You

I have gotten a lot of questions about MVP Boot Camp.

The best one was:

"Are you going to YELL in my FACE, call me names and CUSS me out?"

Although that may be the perception when you hear Boot Camp. It's really not my style.

I believe in getting the best out of you in a constructive, supportive manner.

So,

If I'm not going to cuss and scream then what should you expect from MVP Boot Camp?

Although I could go on all day, but are six things you can expect from Boot Camp.

1. Four Weeks To A Better You: That's all it takes - 28 days- just four short weeks. And you will never be the same again.

2. Four Weeks of PROGRESS! Let's face it...if you don't see progress...you don't want to do it. Nobody does. That's one reason people struggle with their fitness...they do the same exerise routine over and over and get no results. The body is very adaptive. Performing the same routine over and over is not only boring, but your body will get used to the routine and quit responding. At Boot Camp, I use variety, every workout is different, challanging and fun!

3. Lose Weight, Tighten, Tone and Firm Your Body, and Drop Dress pr Pant Sizes Fast!

4. Meet Other People Like You: One of the really nice benefits of MVP Boot Camp is that you're surrounded by like-minded, kind and supportive people just like you.

5. Metabolism Makeover, Regardless of Your Age: With each passing week you'll see your body shrink before your eyes as your metabolism increases so you're burning fat at ever-increasing speed and efficiency.

6. Friendly, Professional Expert Guidance In a Supportive, Structured, Motivational and Accountable Program: I'm proud to say I am a child of God. I am a Certified Personal Trainer with years and years of experience and a long track record of success.

Fit To Be President

With the historic inauguration of Barack Obama as the country’s 44th president and his move into the White House, I am looking forward to see how he will continue his regular fitness routine.

During the presidential campaign, Obama’s aides arranged workouts for him in several dozen states, The Washington Post reports. Once, on July 17 of last year, Obama visited a gym three times within 16 hours, according to the newspaper. He often played pickup basketball games the morning of primary election nights.

Since his election on Nov. 4, Obama worked out regularly at a Chicago luxury apartment complex and even at a military fitness center while on vacation in Hawaii.
In a typical 90-minute workout routine, Obama, 47, devotes half of the workout to weightlifting and the other half to cardiovascular exercises that include a stationary bike, elliptical machine and treadmill, reports The Post. Between his warm-up and cool down, Obama sometimes moves through a dozen different exercises in an hour.
Obama wants to build a full basketball court at the White House and maintain his usual workout routine at least six days a week, according to The Post.

Get Fit 4 Christ Encourages Faith and Action For Healthy Body and Spirit

As the New Year begins, many people resolve to lose weight and become more spiritual. St. Louis-based personal trainer, Lyle Johnson, sets out to help people make both of these resolutions realities. Johnson motivates people to strengthen their spiritual and physical bodies in his new book, Get Fit 4 Christ. The book empowers people to take charge of their lives and focus themselves through scripture, prayer and action.

“I want to help people make lifestyle changes that will produce long lasting benefits and not just quick fixes,” says Johnson.

Get Fit 4 Christ is a practical roadmap containing inspirational stories, personal testimonials, workout plans and a nutritional guide. Johnson uses the biblical story of David and Goliath to encourage readers throughout the book to conquer the giants in their own lives. The book explains David's CHAMP mindset and how people can develop this same mentality to strengthen their bodies and their connection to God.

"Many people think they don't have time to get in shape," says Johnson, a certified personal trainer. "So, in Get Fit 4 Christ, I designed a 30-minute a day work out plan that anyone can do as well as a 40-Day Body Transformation."

The book is easy to follow and written in two parts. The first part focuses on the CHAMP mindset including spiritual and mental fitness with the second part detailing nutrition and exercise with scriptural support.

Johnson owns the St. Louis-based MVP Fitness. He conducts fitness workshops and runs the popular MVP Boot Camp. In addition to holding a Personal Training Certification from Cooper Institute, Johnson graduated from Grambling State University with a Bachelor of Arts. A Way to Avoid a Heat Attack

Shocking news hit us like a ton of bricks when Gerald Levert, 40, the smooth-voiced R&B singer died Nov. 10 2006 of a heart attack at his home in Newbury, Ohio, outside Cleveland.

During his career as he sold more than 10 million albums, five of which were certified platinum. Five of his songs reached No. 1 on the Billboard R&B charts, and 11 made the Top 20.

Gerald Levert’s presence will be missed; one fan wrote “I 'm already missing you. I have comfort in knowing that you will be blessing my love ones in heaven with that AWESOME voice of yours.....You were one of the greatest singers that will ever walk the face of this earth. I am thankful that I have your CD's (all of them) to continue to lift me up”

Two questions that come to my mind are how somebody so gifted like Gerald Levert could die from a heart attack at such an early age? And what should one do in order to avoid having a heart attack?

A heart attack is when part of the heart muscle is damaged or dies because it isn't getting enough blood from the coronary arteries. Heart attacks usually result from a blockage in the coronary arteries. This blockage is most likely to be caused by a blood clot that forms where an atherosclerotic (pronounced “ath-uh-roe-skluh-rot-ik”) plaque has cracked or ruptured.
Risk factors of a heart attack include diabetes, high cholesterol level, high blood pressure, family history of heart attack, hardening of the arteries, lack of exercise and obesity.

There are many ways to reduce your risk of a heart attack:

1. Stop Smoking. Smoking is one of the major causes of death. Smoking also increases the risk of getting a heart attack. If you are a smoker, you ought to quit now. It is not impossible for you to quit. Many people who are heavy smokers manage to successfully quit. All you need is determination and willpower to pull you through this period of time.

2. Exercise. Before you start, talk to your doctor about the right kind of exercise for you. Try to work up to exercising 4 to 6 times a week for at least 30 minutes each time. Regular exercise will help to strengthen your cardiovascular system and keep your weight under control. It can also lower your blood pressure and reduce your level of LDL cholesterol (“bad” cholesterol that clogs the arteries).

3. Eat right. Follow a healthy diet that is low in sodium (salt) and saturated fat. Don't cook with salt, avoid prepared foods that are high in sodium and don't add salt when you're eating.

4. More importantly, get annual checkup because is worth the effort. Waiting until there is something wrong can be costly in time, treatment and quality of life. Regular medical exams and self exams can detect problems in their earliest stages and keep you on the road to good health.

There are many benefits to implementing these healthy habits into your lifestyle. Among them are living a more healthier life, spending less time and money for doctor visits and hospital stays, and an increase in your fitness level, appearance, confidence and energy.
